Course Description (for SIS)

Measurement Theory focuses on measurement models in education and psychology. Item response theory (IRT) and generalizability theory are the primary focus. Specific topics in IRT include binary and polytomous item response models, parameter estimation, scale linking and score equating, checking assumptions, and evaluating model fit. Topics in generalizability theory include model development and the implementation of generalizability and decision studies. Students learn details of each theory and how to use them in the analysis and interpretation of test data. The use of statistical software is emphasized.
