Specific topics will include:

  • Breaking down a song – understanding and conveying the physical/emotional relationship of a character to a song.
  • Breaking down a song – phrasing and breathing as well as note interpretation and choices.
  • Performance experience and critique – selling your song to your audience.
  • Audition technique, selection of appropriate audition songs, audition preparation and audition book preparation – selling your song to your auditioners.
  • Written response to each in-class performance to build critical listening skills, provide feedback to peers, and incorporate peer performances to enhance your own – were you sold?
  • Gain a better knowledge of musicals and their composers, musical terms and tips, and performance and audition techniques.
