This course provides an introduction to the languages, peoples, cultures, and histories of the Middle East. The course focuses this year on the revolutionary movements unfolding across the Middle East over the past few years and asks what the study of language and the patterns of its use can tell us about revolutionary societies. Prerequisite: previous coursework in Anthropology, Linguistics, or Middle East Studies; or permission of the instructor.
