Twentieth-century Russian literature was a crucial player in a society obsessed with revolutionary change. Changing human nature for the better was the main idea–though deciding how that would happen aroused passionate disagreement. As part of this groundswell, Russian writers brought to life a compelling debate in which the very fabric of humanity was at stake.
