Class Overview for SIS

Physics 742 - 2nd semester Graduate Electricity and Magnetism covers approximately covers the material in Chapters 7-16 of Classical Electrodynamics by Dave Jackson.  This material includes electrodyamics as compared to  the first half of Jackson, which covers, to a large extent, static electric and magnetic fields. In particular, the second half of the semester will cover relativistic effects in electrodynamics.  I will attempt to introduce at appropriate times, real life applications of some of the EM phenomena such as transition radiation and Cerenkov phenomena to various detectors.
