Rebecca Newberger Goldstein – a certified genius MacArthur fellow - is coming to Brown College!

Author of biography (Spinoza, Gödel), fiction (“The Mind-Body problem,” “Properties of Light”) and the unclassifiable “Plato at the Googleplex,” her work is bursting with her love for that philosopher.

But then, why does she tease him so unmercifully?

Rebecca Goldstein puts her beloved through a Faux News interview, solicits his advice on romance and childrearing (he is anything but a Tiger Mom), and subjects him to an MRI brain scan.

This is serious play, just what Plato has recommended for the most effective form of education.

We can enjoy the romp with Plato and welcome Rebecca Goldstein by dialog each week before her visit March 30, 2015. Brown College is sponsoring INST 2570-002 (21421) meeting Monday afternoons (4-5 PM, Sally Brown Reading Room, Monroe Hill) this spring semester.
