Course Description (for SIS)

COMM 4680 will provide students with a solid educational foundation and practical toolset with which to start, co-found, work for, or invest in a successful entrepreneurial venture. 

The curriculum will introduce students to the core foundational principles of:

  • how entrepreneurs think
  • market analysis
  • opportunity evaluation
  • startup formation
  • co-founder agreements
  • customer development
  • design thinking
  • minimum viable product
  • product/market fit
  • startup financing, fundraising & term sheets
  • growth & scaling

  • liquidity events

At the conclusion of this course, students will have a strong understanding of all the elements that go into conceiving, launching, funding, growing, and selling a successful entrepreneurial venture.
