Course Description (for SIS)

This course is designed as an introduction to personal finance for 4th and/or 5th year UVA students who are not enrolled in the McIntire School of Commerce.  The goal is for students to develop the competency to make informed financial decisions that will contribute to their personal financial health and well-being. The course will provide the basics of personal finance and the fundamental principles to achieving personal financial well-being.  Students will learn tools and techniques to help them analyze common financial situations and will apply critical reading and critical thinking skills to the situations for the purposes of making sound financial decisions.   This introductory course may be considered the first step in a life-long journey toward financial literacy.
