This course will equip early childhood and/elementary pre-service teachers with the content knowledge, skills, and dispositions necessary to teach students to be responsible citizens in their classrooms, schools and communities. Although it is often described as a “methods” course, the interdisciplinary (content) nature of social studies is a key course feature.Students will create and demonstrate grade level and standards appropriate elementary social studies lessons, using a variety of resources and instructional methods that are taught and practiced during the semester.
