This course is a graduate elective for students who are planning to do historical research for their dissertation or want to have advanced training in historical methods for use later in their careers. It is designed to give students in-depth knowledge and further training in the practice of historical research methods particularly focused on nursing and health care history. Theoretical approaches to the gathering and analysis of data will be discussed, and practice in specific techniques of data collection and analysis will be provided. The course is designed to further develop expertise in students who have a basic understanding of health care history and historical research methods.
