This course will cover the fundamentals of academic writing through the examination of literature, articles, blog posts, social media, music lyrics, and other forms of written and verbal communication which discuss and explore sexuality and violence in American culture.  Students will learn to identify and utilize the formal structures of good academic writing, as well as hone their critical thinking skills by thinking through arguments presented for critique.
