Course Description (for SIS)

A short course of seven films touching on a wide range of urban planning issues, from light pollution to the treatment of Native American sacred places. Some of the films address more modern concerns, like sprawl and the American lifestyle, while others detail historical milestones in the planning profession, such as the Pruitt-Igoe public housing project in St. Louis. Each class meeting will be dedicated to watching one movie, followed by group discussion of themes and reflections. A short 500-700 word reflection posted on Collab will be due following each film.
