Course Description (for SIS)

Chem 1811 is the first of a four-semester laboratory sequence for "accelerated" chemistry study.  The course has four goals:

(1) To illuminate the connections between what you learn in chemistry class and the real world,

(2) To teach students how to think and write scientifically,

(3) To provide experience with fundamental laboratory techniques, and

(4) To provide experimental support for the topics covered in the accompanying 1810 lecture.

Four laboratory hours plus 1 weekly lecture/discussion. Prerequisite/corequisite: CHEM 1810, or CHEM 1410 with instructor recommendation.
