Course Description:

This culminating synthesis practicum for the adult-gerontology acute care nurse practitioner student emphasizes the role of the adult-gerontology acute care nurse practitioner in an inter-professional environment. The student’s major focus is the clinical management of adult patients in an acute care setting from the wellness to acute care continuum and may focus on a selected specialty. To that end, the site and clinical practice environment are selected with the student’s clinical expertise and career goals in mind. This synthesis practicum further validates the knowledge, clinical skills and practice of the adult-gerontology acute care nurse practitioner in addition to integrating the key advanced practice nurse role components of teaching, research, consultation, change agency and a systems focus. It is in this final practicum that the student will be judged against the standards of practice for adult-gerontology acute care nurse practitioners.
