Intensive Grammar and Composition

This course offers an introduction to narrative writing in French. Emphasis is placed on writing, revision, and an intensive review of grammar rules as they apply to oral and written communication. The variety of assessment formats includes compositions, presentations, short quizzes, dictations, and a mid-term and/or final exam. Preparation and active participation are essential to improve reading, writing, and speaking skills. The course is conducted in French.

In Spring 2014, Levine will teach a "hybrid challenge" section of 3031. This section will be taught using a "flipped classroom" model, with grammar instruction provided outside of class through instructor videos, reading, and online practice exercises, and class time devoted to an IPad-supported creative writing workshop that will include oral practice activities, creative writing activities, and editing practice. You will get all the same course content and writing instruction as in the other sections, just taught using different pedagogical techniques.
