The purpose of this elective is to provide graduate and undergraduate students with the necessary information to identify and deal with stress related to the academic and health care environment. It is designed to explore the nature of resilience and provide tools for practice to enhance enjoyment and longevity in healthcare. This elective will focus on the development of knowledge about self assessment, self-care strategies and resilience practices. Students will develop stress reduction skills as they learn about various resilience modalities, such as meditation, yoga, storytelling, journalling, etc. Students may make suggestions for presentation of additional resilience modalities not covered in the course outline.
