Course Description (for SIS)

This is an introductory course focused on teaching the fundamental concepts of Geographic Information Systems. The approach involves providing the students with a broad overview of GIS data and capabilities through hands-on lab exercises, project work experience, and classroom discussion. By the end of the course the students will have a working knowledge of vector and raster GIS data and analysis, including creating thematic map outputs using ArcGIS software. Additionally, students will be exposed to other related geospatial technologies such as remote sensing and GPS.
