Précis

This course will traverse terrain from the classical battlefield to modern-day Iraq and Afghanistan. Offering a cultural and historical survey of war, readings will be drawn from the Iliad, the Declaration of Independence, poetry and propaganda during the world wars, American Sniper, and current political debates. This assembly of texts will encourage students to relate historical accounts to their more immediate experiences.
