Course Description (for SIS)

We introduce the basic foundations modern astronomical science. This first semester focuses primarily on the sun and our solar system, while introducing basic physical processes and astronomical techniques. The second semester expands the focus to the more general study of stars, galaxies and cosmology. This course assumes a basic understanding of introductory physics and proficiency with algebra and calculus appropriate for astronomy or astronomy-physics majors.
