Course Description (for SIS)

Macroeconomics looks at the structure and performance of national economies.  Topics we will study include: Productivity, Output, Employment, Consumption, Savings, Real Investment, Asset Markets, Money, Prices, and Exchange Rates.  Business cycles - the ups and downs of economic activity – will also be examined, including the American historical experience.  We will also get into Policy makers’ response to these fluctuations: both Monetary Policy tools of the Federal Reserve and Fiscal Policy decisions carried out by elected officials.  The student will get hands-on experience with real macroeconomic data and develop analytical view points on macroeconomic issues.
