CS 6501: Seminar

Smart Cities, Homes, Phones, and Beyond

John A. Stankovic, BP America Professor

Department of Computer Science

Fall 2015

Course Description

This class will be conducted as a seminar. The main theme is smart physical places and things, like cities, homes, phones, watches and other wearables. State of the art research papers will be presented that cover various visions of the future, platforms supporting smart*, and novel research in this general area. Mobile and wireless health will be one theme, but papers are not restricted to this area. The class will also stress the cyber physical aspects of these systems. Since CPSs interact with the physical world, they must operate dependably, safely, securely, efficiently and in real-time.   Significantly, there is a large overlap of the material in this class with the Internet of Things, the Industrial Internet, and the Internet of Everything.
