Course Description (for SIS)

This course aims to acquaint students with philosophical and theological frameworks for interpreting and evaluating human activity in the marketplace. The first part of the course will emphasize the nature and rise of capitalism, with specific attention to self-interest. Next, we will examine private property, the distribution of goods, and poverty.  Finally, we will consider issues related to economic ethics, mutual responsibility, and environmental sustainability.
