Week 2 (January 29); Annotated Thematic Bibliography-Blue Annals

Status of Assignment: FINAL

View Here Blue Annals Bibliography

Comments: This is the beginning of an annotated bibliography, although it could certainly use more collaborative attention in the future. It was also my first attempt at both annotated bibs. and large-scale wiki use. There is no subject overview because that part of the assignment was created after the bibliography itself. Therefore, I will include a subject overview later. The bibliography is also included in the 'bibliographies' wiki for the Blue Annals, along with a rough draft by Chris Bell

Week 4 (February 12); Timeline of a Chapter- Frag 14

Status: Final

View Here: go to external link: THDL Timeline Database

Comments: I couldn't really tell where there might be some kind of analysis component to this assignment-- besides coming up with a critical edition of dates based on non-Blue Annals texts or finding some way to analyze the importance of the dates included as a whole.

Week 5 (February 19); Thematic Markup in Tibetan- Frag 14

status: FINAL View Here: external link: CH 14 BA Tibetan

Comments: I only did the first section of this Chapter. My Tibetan is not good enough yet that I can read very quickly.

Week 8 (March 19); Summary of a Blue Annals Chapter-Chapter 9

Status: FINAL

View Here: Chapter 9

Comments: I switched to Ch. 9 from Ch. 8 based on the note in the wiki for this week: "In fact chapter 9 is primarily concerned with Khyungpo Neljor (khyung po rnal ‘byor), who claimed to be transmitting traditions obtained from Niguma, a shadowy figured described as the sister or consort of the famous Indian siddha, Nāropa. These lineages came to form the basis for the so-called Shangpa (shangs pa) subset of the Kagyü traditions. Although referred to in the title, Kodrakpa is the subject only of the first few" I added my analysis and ideas followed by {AM}. I also corrected many spelling and grammatical errors from the previous 2 authors.

Week 10 (date); Annotated Bibliography- Dakinis

Status: Final

Comments: This was an extremely interesting project to start, and I would like to continue exploring the subject matter. Although I was working on an annotated bibliography, did not really have the time to get too immersed in the material, it was more a process of locating sources and understanding what they are generally about. Please note that the above is also located in the Bibliographies Wiki, but I had a lot of trouble figuring out how to link that to this page. If we could go over that, I would appreciate it. Please note that this is going to be the case for many other assignments listed here.

Week 11 (date); Text Analysis: Maṇi Kambum

Status: FINAL

Comments: I probably learned more from this project than any other this semester. Also I am becoming more and more preoccupied with terma and its origins. This was in collaboration with Chris Bell, we had a very good collaboration experience, division of labor and multiple meetings about what we'd found proved to be very fruitful.
