This course will provide you with an introduction to principles of curriculum, instruction, and assessment. We will focus our attention on planning, teaching, and assessment of and for learning. Course sessions and readings will be devoted to approaches for developing, analyzing, and modifying effective curricula. We will explore strategies for developing effective assessment practices and discuss some of the theoretical underpinnings of assessment decisions in the field. We will also learn some ways of observing classrooms in light of theoretical principles and practical strategies.  Throughout the course, we will discuss how curricular, instructional, and assessment decisions can be responsive to the needs of the diverse students in our classrooms.
